Talk Fashion to Me
Introducing my social media documentary pilot on fashion, consumerism, and identity. Originally titled Gen Scroll, Like and Add to Cart, this project began with a specific focus on targeting Gen Z and the algorithm-driven shopping cycle the generation is wrapped in. However, as the interview unfolded with my Baby Boomer mother, Elena, my scope and journalistic aim expanded.
Exploring the Links Between Social Media & Fast Fashion Consumption
Comparing my mother’s shopping habits to my own originally sparked my curiosity about what drives fashion consumerism today. Specifically, I am interested in the impact of social media on the rapid growth of fast fashion consumerism. I am planning to produce a short-form web documentary series to conduct practice-based research on this topic. Read this journal to learn more about my research and production!

This love for the visual arts lead to the development of a creative career as a bigger child. Sorry, I mean, adult. Watch your step as you walk into the world of Sam K Ryan Studio.
